Today we want to focus on the decorative details that always help us to highlight the design of our interior design project. All those small elements that, without even realizing it, are the true protagonists of the house.
We share with you a few ideas for decorating sideboards and consoles. Furniture that allow us to set the room where they are thanks to its surface and the wall on which they rest.
A perfect blank canvas to define the decorative style that we want to capture in our home.
A very useful resource both decoratively and practically is the use of a mirror.
The consoles in the entrance hall allow us to take a last look before leaving home, and the sideboards in the dining room help to enlarge the space.
If we want to give it even more presence, its frame will help us to achieve it. The finish and size we choose will draw a lot of attention.
Whether they are square, rectangular, round or placed in pairs, their use will always be a success.
Whether with a large format that covers practically the entire sideboard or console, or you opt for two or more paintings, with them we will have much of the work completed.
Having a work of art as the main element, we will only need a few more decorative elements, being even possible to have only one more or less large one on one side and a couple of smaller ones on the other to compensate the scene. All this will depend on the power of our painting.
As with mirrors and paintings, the effect of large wall clocks is similar.
With them we can dress the wall and only two or three more elements will be necessary, which do not have to have a great decorative weight.
One of the first things we think of when we entrust ourselves with the task of decorating a medium-height piece of furniture, such as sideboards and consoles, is a lamp.
Its mere presence already contributes to decorate in itself, but if it is also part of the active lighting of the room where it is located, its contribution will be even greater. By this we mean that it should be part of a lighting scene that is used on a regular basis.
In addition, we can also choose to create symmetry by placing two units, one on each side of the cabinet, with some other object in between.
Our friends the plants are always a safe bet. Their variety of shapes and especially their color, makes the room come alive with their simple presence.
We can opt for several small, medium-sized plants, or for a larger one that will achieve a similar effect.
Although it may seem chaotic, this type of decorations are very well thought out, each object has its location, finish and specific dimension.
By grouping pictures, vases, lamps, boxes, sculptures, etc. We achieve a very dynamic, lively atmosphere with a lot of character.
If we decide to go along this line, we recommend not to vary the colors too much so as not to reach that point of chaos that will have the opposite effect to the one we are looking for.
This point is valid only for consoles, since it is a question of going further by also using the space underneath the cabinet.
Since consoles are lighter than sideboards because they have less mass, we can use that free space to place for example a couple of poufs or a long stool, one or two baskets or even a large vase. All this in a decorative way.
As with fashion, where one of the most attractive options is to use the same color in all garments, the same thing happens with our furniture.
It is only necessary to look for all the elements of a similar tonality, being possible to use the color of the material for it.
In the image below we see two examples where all the elements have a golden finish with a touch of white (lampshade and background of the painting) and a darker one (sideboard structure).
For those who love order, cleanliness and serene environments, there is nothing better than opting for few decorative elements.
A mirror and a vase with some branches or flowers can be a good option or, even, we can decide to leave the wall clean with just a lamp and some vases.
This type of decoration is undoubtedly synonymous with peace.
There are many options that exist to set these furniture; we only have to define if we prefer many or few objects, if we have a predilection for a work of art such as a painting, a sculpture or a series of vases and if we want to give a touch of light and another vegetable.
And just in case you need some more inspiration, here are some more ideas for decorating sideboards and consoles:
