10 types of designer washbasins for all tastes

We can achieve one style or another depending on the chosen tile, lighting, sanitary ware, bathtub or shower and, of course, the sink. And since it is impossible to cover everything, today's post is dedicated to designer washbasins and their multiple versions.

1. Freestanding washbasins

Ideal for courtesy toilets where there is no need for a cabinet to store everything that is usually necessary in a bathroom for daily use.

It is also possible to use it in the main bathroom when it has a cabinet without storage. In these cases it can be interesting to use a separate sink to create a lighter bathroom design.

2. Washbasins with legs

The most updated versions are reminiscent of the old washbasins that had a porcelain basin, quite elaborate, supported on a steel structure with two legs and wall connections. In addition, this structure could be used as a towel rack.

Currently we can find versions where the lines have been refined, simplifying its shape and making it much lighter than the original.

3. Volume to the floor

When we are looking for a bathroom with a sense of packaging, a large washbasin made of the same material that rests on the floor will achieve that effect.

If the material is stone or porcelain, it will have even more presence and be perceived practically as a sculpture.

4. Countertop sinks

Although the most common until a few years ago was to find the sinks recessed under the countertop, it is increasingly common to find them on it.

Formats range from circular to rectangular through oval and square.

Their color also goes beyond white and can be found in various materials that provide their own color, or even lacquered in different tones.

5. Washbasins on top of the storage cabinet

Although what is most often needed is a washbasin cabinet with plenty of storage capacity, it is possible to find design furniture with this premise, without it being synonymous with simple, unsightly or bland.

With washbasins on the countertop, a good finish in an eye-catching material and discreet handles, you can achieve a piece of furniture that meets both functional and aesthetic requirements.

6. On a crate

Continuing with the previous version, you can always add more lightness with an overhanging cabinet. If you have space, you can choose to put double drawers, one next to the other to leave more distance to the floor. The sink will be placed to one side and you will get a large countertop.

The result is a light piece of furniture capable of providing storage space with a touch of design.

7. Washbasins with separate storage

For small bathrooms or toilets, having a wall-hung basin whose storage module is not attached to the wall allows it to be moved for easy cleaning and even placed elsewhere in the bathroom if preferred.

There are models that also offer a joint version of both, with the cabinet also being suspended.

8. Washbasins on base cabinet

To combine striking design and some functionality in the same sink cabinet, we have for example the following option. On a bench with legs that raise it a little higher, rests a large basin of great height.

Accessing the drawer is somewhat awkward, but it is not a drawback if it is not designed to be opened quite often.  In return, you get an original washbasin with a lot of presence.

9. Washbasins with vanity

Some include some added value, and a vanity is a good idea for women who like to apply their makeup in a relaxed, unhurried manner. With a pouf to sit on, this option becomes the perfect vanity unit for many people.

In the example of the photo we see a module with a hinged lid that has a built-in mirror; once opened we can see the space left free to store beauty products.

10. Washbasins with pedestal

They are undoubtedly the most slender and stylish. There are a thousand types of pedestal sinks, from those that are included in all new construction housing that does not include furniture, to the most elaborate with different shapes and finishes. The latter are the ones in which the designer puts more care and lets his imagination fly, since they are conceived to give priority to design over functionality.
