The hallway is a part of the house that visitors walk right past.... Unless you've decided to paint the hallway with a splash of color. Although it is not a place in the house where you spend a lot of time during the day, it is a very busy area for the inhabitants of the house. Therefore, it never hurts to make an effort to take it out of the monotony of immaculate white. It's time to leave old myths behind, such as avoiding dark tones or not getting carried away by fashions. These ideas for transforming the hallway are so original, you won't know which one to choose.
Wallpaper with large motifs. Wallpaper is the great ally of the corridors. With a patterned wall it breaks the predominance of white, opening this corner of the house to be admired. We advise you to use it only on one wall, to avoid dwarfing it.
Paper with small drawings. If you prefer it to be more uniform, do not give up the wallpaper, but ideally, its design should be based on a horizontal pattern of smaller dimensions and with a single color. Only in this way you will be able to visually enlarge it.
Dark color palette. Lose your fear of black in the passage areas. You can use it without restraint, as long as you complement it with paintings, mirrors and plants. So that it does not become overwhelming, it is best to let in plenty of natural light.
Bright colors. A bubblegum pink hallway will not leave anyone indifferent. Of course, passing a brush dyed in a more fluorine spectrum will turn the distributor into a very special place in the house. Top it off with a fancy vinyl is pure art.
Geometric composition. The great disadvantage of hallways has to do with their narrowness. Generating volumes is one of the most effective alternatives to remedy this architectural factor, so do not hesitate to make color combinations full of edges.
Horizontal stripes. As we have told you before, horizontal lines create the optical effect of greater amplitude. It is not superfluous to apply it, but only if the ceiling we have is high, since this type of stripes would deceive your eye dwarfing it.
Multiplying the contrast. You can not imagine the game that colors give if you use the right ones: a lighter one will raise the ceiling, a darker one of the same range for the walls and, finally, moldings, baseboards and door frames in white. The detail of the carpet is noteworthy.
False plinth with paint. Half-height wainscoting is a real decorative spectacle. In the hallway, try painting a little more than a third of the wall down in another color, but always the darkest color below to lighten the space and make it taller.
Wooden baseboard. To make a more classic wainscot, wood will be a great solution. The slatted version matches the doors, and the somewhat baroque border of the ceiling molding adds the finishing touch to an outstanding hallway.
Play of textures. The fact that the wall and ceiling are also part of the equation allows the whole to exude a careful personality of its own. The wood of the lattice has its correspondence with the floor tiles. The result is warm and different.
