We close the course with one of those posts that is a pleasure to prepare before going on vacation, because it almost transports us to the sea, the beach, the mountains or the mountains without leaving home.
A post full of spectacular porches of summer air that invite you to spend the hours of light and heat outdoors, to enjoy the sea breeze, long naps or the "dolce far niente".
Decorating the porch of a beach or country house seems easy but many aspects must be taken into account: the direct incidence of the sun (which can crush the materials over time and forces to make structures to protect from sunlight), the possibility or not to bring outdoor lighting with work, the use that will be given to the space (chatting, eating, sleeping ...) And of course the aesthetics; the "air" we want to give to our porch (more modern, more bohemian, more rustic ...).
For those of you who are lucky enough to have a porch and have doubts about how to decorate it, here are a few ideas:
To shelter from the sun, nothing is more aesthetic than a natural wood structure with a shamrock in between to shade the light. This type of structure also generates a beautiful play of shadows and lights that enhances the decoration of the environment and invites relaxation.
Among the most used materials in the decoration of porches are wicker and rattan. These natural materials have always been used for outdoor spaces. Lamps, chairs, armchairs, sofas... everything is possible now that this material is also a trend in interiors.
Speaking of tones, a very relaxing way to decorate a porch, especially in beach areas, is to use the blue of the sea in all its variants. Navy, indigo, turquoise... any of them can be used to achieve a marine aesthetic.
Another option for those who want some color is to opt for pink tones (often combined with mauves, oranges, reds and violets). It is a very relaxing option especially in porches located in hot interior areas, as well as in those homes that want to print a certain "Arab" or ethnic touch to the exterior.
A perfect style for the porches of the new country houses is rustic chic: wood, wicker and ochre tones on walls and surfaces, combined with modernized rustic furniture make these spaces delightful.
Being a porch by definition an outdoor environment, the presence of plants is practically obligatory. Climbers, shrubs, loose pots, ivy, cactus or palm trees should be part of the landscaping designed for this type of rooms.
There are open, closed and semi-open porches. The latter are those that have a structure on the roof that protects them from the sun.
These structures can be tremendously decorative, especially when the supporting beams are exposed, whether they are made of wood or iron, painted white or black.
If you are looking for a romantic aura to your porch, try placing soft white curtains that will provide privacy when needed and will move with the breeze creating a very relaxing effect.
Another option is to opt for white, pink or fuchsia flowers, especially bougainvillea, so characteristic of our islands.
Anyway, we are getting our teeth set on laps with these wonderful porches and we suddenly get a crazy desire to take a few weeks off, so we take this last post of the course to say goodbye in August and to send you to September with renewed energy.
Happy Holidays!
