Do not buy those that are in the sun. If you pick them from your own garden, pick them in the morning or at dusk. In the hours of less sun the flowers collect more carbohydrates to stay alive.

Leave them for about two hours with the stems completely submerged in water to recover from the transfer. Another option is to put the flowers in the refrigerator for 6 hours.

Prior to this, remove all leaves that will be submerged in the water. These leaves can accelerate the deterioration of the flowers and encourage the proliferation of bacteria.

As for the vase, the silver vase has an antibacterial effect and keeps the flowers fresh for a longer period of time.

Cut the stems every three days. Cut two centimeters above the base of the stem. Use pruning shears or other gardening tools.

Avoid direct sunlight, do not expose them to drafts, high temperatures or dryness of the environment.

Put them out at night on the balcony or in the window. You will not only help the plants, but also your health, since at night the plants steal oxygen from the environment and generate carbon dioxide.

Remove damaged leaves and any leaves that remain below the water level. This will prevent bacterial growth.
